Our Story

Rotomoulding business was established in 1984 in Mumbai, to manufacture high-quality rotationally-moulded battery boxes and water tanks. The business quickly outgrew the space and expanded into other cities in India, moving on to newer products and challenging applications. BDI diversified in to automotive parts, road safety products, healthcare parts, waste management products, material handling pallets and crates, amongst other products and is now the leading custom rotational moulding business in India.

1984 - Inception

The Start: Founders (Saini family) started rotational moulding in a small 1,000 sq. ft. workshop with an indigenous self-built machine suited for small water tanks in Ghatkopar area, Mumbai (Maharashtra, India)

1989

Business soon grew and newer concepts prevalent in western economies were launched in India and second manufacturing plant was set up in a 60,000 sq. ft. facility on outskirts of Mumbai (Maharashtra, India)

1992

A new space of about 35,000 sq. ft. was acquired in the heart of Central Mumbai (Maharashtra, India) and a fully equipped manufacturing facility was set up under the name of B.D. Industries

1997

For in-house consumption of raw material, a new state-of-the-art Polyethylene processing unit was set up in Silvassa (Gujarat, India)

1998

B.D. Industries entered the automotive domain and successfully developed the first rotationally moulded plastic fuel tank for a leading tractor company.

2004

The company undergoes restructuring.

2007

BDI acquired a rotational moulding plant in Pune (Maharashtra, India) and merged it under the BDI Group

2012

Land acquired to set up a new plant in Zaheerabad (Telangana, India) to cater to automotive and other businesses in the Southern India region

2013

Land acquired in Takwe (Maharashtra, India) to set up a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in a land parcel of about 15 acres to cater to Automotive OEMs

2015

A new manufacturing unit was set up as a greenfield project in Dewas (Madhya Pradesh, India) with automated PUF filling machinery for rotational moulded pallets, insulated containers and other material handling products along-with automotive parts.

2018 – Punjab plant

Land acquired in Hoshiarpur (Punjab, India) to set up a new manufacturing plant for supplying quality products to automotive OEMs and other businesses in northern region

2019 - One Million Plastic Fuel tanks

Milestone: BDI reaches and establishes an industry benchmark of completing “ONE-MILLION” rotationally-moulded plastic fuel tanks in India
